Ooma looks interesting. You can use it to keep the existing phones working in the house and keep you old existing number. I'm kinda torn between getting that and just ditching the house phones all together. We are already paying for wireless that covers 99% of our calls, yet I hesitate to get rid of something that has been working flawlessly regardless of storms, power outages, etc..
Of course Ooma will not work during internet or power outages, but maybe that doesn't really matter.
