You know, this got me thinking, I wonder if there is some profit to be had in opening a small factory in which new 6.3 & 6.9 engines are created from old blueprints but with modern updates such at direct injection, distributor-less ignition systems, electric cooling fans, etc. Maybe 1 engine every week with a small staff of 3-4 people? These seem like the only old Mercedes-Benz motors that people are willing to pay high dollar for.
All these M102, M103, M104, M117, even M119 engine powered cars are all bought by us enthusiasts as 2nd to 10th owners looking for a cheap car to avoid car payments and drive until we decide to part it out. The 6.3 & 6.9 engine though may be the key...
Wishful thinking, starting a manufacturing outfit in the USA is a bad idea now-a-days anyways, and nobody is going to buy a 6.3 or 6.9 created in China...
