Yes, the timing is 15 degrees after TDC, but you have to have the Bosch sensor to set it -- it is set off the hole in the rear of the pump (there is a screwed in cover) -- there is a nipple on the arm back there that the hall effect sensor in the tool "finds" to indicate correct timing.
White smoke indicates seriously late timing.
To install this pump, you must have the locking tool and have the pump set correctly and locked before installation. You cannot install the pump without the locking tool, as it is impossible to get it in time unless it is locked while you install it in the injection timer. I believe you also have to lock the timer, too, but I'm not sure.
Installation and timing are NOT the same as the 615/617 pump!
