When I installed my new engine, I attached everything while it was out. as said above, much easier with the engine on the stand.

That exhaust manifold and turbo are pretty heavy, and leaning over the fender trying to mount them is a PITA on the back.

I do all my work by my self, and dropping the engine back in isn`t that big of deal. go slow, lower a little at a time, and it should just slide right in.

Bottom line is, what you are comfortable with doing for you.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
