It your wiper mounts like the older ones, it has just one nut holding it onto the rotating thing(for a lack of better terminology). Is the nut on tight enough. It sounds like if the resistance it too high, meaning no water on the windshield, the rotating part of the motor brakes loose from the wiper and spins.
