Thanks for setting the record straight on the legality of that...I've obviously been misinformed a couple of times about that.

I think I'm correct about the compressor...I had the same problem and experience with my 300SD...The more R12 I lost, the more often the compressor would cycle on and off, until finally it would not come on at all. I had the leaking hose replaced, charged it up, and now it's fine.
