Man versus Wild is not "fake" per say. Its what t is, a survival show. No claims were made that he is all alone and spending nights outdoors. Heck, he has a huge camera crew with him anyway. I think what happened is that Survivorman, which is "real" in the sense that he is outdoors alone and no one is even looking for him, sorta upped the standards for TV shows like this. So everyone often compared the two.
Either way, Bear is an idiot for half the stuff he does. Like drink his own unfiltered urine.
