Man vs. Wild is just pure entertainment, IMO. Watching this slightly hyper, slightly mental ex-SAS guy do slightly crazy things and eat plenty of disgusting stuff. That's about it.

John's right about Les Stroud, his show Survivorman is more *realistic*, but even his show has its dodgy moments. The premise of all of these shows is ridiculous. You could distill the useful info into about a minute of screen time. The rest is just entertainment.
