#1 - Is a plastic plug that is used to retain the torque converter and to keep it from falling off when the tranny is not attached to the engine. Yours looks like it was mangled on its outide part. If the torque converter doesn't come off easily with the tranny that part will usually break off if not removed prior to the seperating the tranny from the engine.
