Thanks Warden (and everyone else's info also!). Yes, I do belong to Ford-Diesel webite under the same name. I did a lot of checking around there also before making my decision to get a "bomb-proof" 7.3 idi diesel. My decision to go without the turbo was from the website information that led me to conclude that the turbo models over horsepowered the abilities of a lot of trannys and caused problems. Plus the simplicity of the idi engine also. This truck has been literally problem free in the 4 yrs I've had it and hope to continue for many more. This is what I am looking for in the MB and sounds like I can expect it. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty on working on vehicles and have done much to my wifes Acura Legend with many cuss words and busted knuckles. A third vehicle gives my family the ability to have one down with a spare to use.

In my search lately, the ones that would have been perfect are sold. The ones I passed are still in the paper. I prefer the private party method and use the paper as my source. I've scanned ebay but most seem to be a distance from me. Autotrader had one local by a dealership '83 300SD with 236k for $5999. Pretty steep and don't want to go thru the grind with a salesman to find out why they are so proud of this.
