i called a auto audio place this morning and explained my dilema... i put in a new cd changer and replaced the receiver w/ a new sony one. and now the speakers don't sound as good. i was planning on changing the speakers but was told by the dudes at the store that simply changing the speakers won't do much. he said the problem was that the new receiver, sony deck, didn't match up w/ the existing speakers. he recommended just leaving the speakers, and rewiring the system cause something w/ the impedence? he said putting in a small amp to power the door subs would greatly improve the sound. and then running the front dash and rear deck speakers from the receiver... any thoughts on this? he said it'd cost bout 426 out the door. (for the new amp and rewire and labor)
