Another Jumpy Speedometer Question

My speedometer is jumpy now that cold weather has begun here in Raleigh. After 20 minutes or so it stabilizes, I guess because the cable has warmed up somewhat. I’ve had the instrument cluster out so many times tracking down a Tachometer problem that I wouldn’t be too surprised if this new problem is related.

Anyway, can you remove the cable from the cable sheath and re-grease it? Or will I have to put a few drops of oil on the top of the cable and let it work its way down?

I’ve searched for an answer in the forum, never saw anything about the cable being removable, so would like a definitive answer on this if available.

I’ll check for kinks and such when I have the cluster out.

Thanks.
