For me 650 in D translates to a 2000-2500 RPM cold Idle.
Alternator doesn't charge below 1000 RPM.
650-750 engine temperature 60° - 80° C

I prefer 750 - 780.

If you have not replaced the voltage regulator yet, do it now.
