Ok, before my edit I just mentioned that since the bench is so easy to take apart you may want to look for something bound in the gear. I had peanuts in mine. After a cleaning and grease it is operating perfectly and much faster.

Its a very simple setup once you have it apart.

As for heating, its pretty easy too. On mine one set was disconnected somehow. Two connectors for each side.

IMPORTANT - when you move the bench out, slide it forward just enough to disconnect the seat heat elements. And you may want to recline the bench all the way before starting work, makes it easier.
