Not to start an oil thread...  But I swear that Mobil 1 TD&T makes a 617 run louder and "clack" more at idle. They sound much more smooth and trucklike on Rotella. May be a different scenario with the 60x series.
I'm going to say that either is probably fine, I've put almost 100k on my engine with the rotella synthetic, and the compression levels and chain stretch have gone virtually unchanged in those 100k......so I think its working pretty well!
