Ceramic brake pads are not going to provide the same braking capability if you lose power assist for some reason. MB specifies the soft brake pad material so in the event of a loss of power assist MB automobiles can be stopped safely. A harder brake pad will increase the stopping distance from any given speed ... so less safe than the spec brake pads.
