if it's the same problem for both front doors, then the issue is in the dome assembly

wiggle the switch in the vicinity of where it should be for door operation, and do this with the door open

when you're tired of that, clean the switch

there is a also a delay on timer circuit (no "theatre fade" feature that came 10 years later), wonder if the issue is with that?
