Sounds good. I followed a similar approach for the centering but I positioned and held the pad in place with magnets then removed the magnets from half the pad, folded it back and applied the adhesive. Unfolded to seat into the adhesive and secured with the magnets. Then did the other half. I don't know what they were intended for but the magnets that worked best were about 3-4 inches in diameter and had a knob for a handle on one side (looked a lot like a lid for a pan).
