Yes you could cut south of 40 and go down thru Lubbock and then Roswell-Ruiodoso and stay in the ridge thru AZ-small mountain towns Payson and Prescott and then southwest to Parker-and to Joshua Tree CA like the trucker lady recommended-This would be a most scenic trip that most dont see traveling between I10 and I40.
