Well, how do you define "not marked up that much"? It may mean something differently to him, like doubling up.
Since he only paid 4-5k for it, and perhaps did his due diligence servicing and reconditioning, he feels like its a charity only making anything less than 3k on it.
Plus he knows some sucker, ummm, scratch that, CUSTOMER will come along and pay that much for it eventually.
