Given how quick it is to pull a dash once you have learned how to do it, they don't seem so much like false economy to me, either. On the other hand, if they only last two years at a stretch, then that would get old pretty quickly. How old are yours now, anyway?

While we're on the subject of vacuum diaphragms hidden behind the dash, Does anyone know off hand how many are required to do all the hidden dash vacuum elements in an early '77 300D? I have to admit that I apparently never wrote down the number when I had the dash loose. I tried being a cheapskate and repairing a few of mine, but that was a complete waste of time.
