Oh I agree, I have been going back and forth with the guy for a week now. I buy a lot of cars... pain in the ass cars... I have this damn affection toward older rovers... so I'm fairly use to seeing large piles of crap for sale.
One of the things that does worry me is the fact he's selling it as the engine only. He has a running video of it up on youtube. If he's willing to drive it to me it shows the trans works.. but he's a scraper and that also tells me that everyone else has already given up on this car.
I'm only interested in this car due to it's 7 passenger seating. I'm trying to figure out the way I want to go because I would rebuild my current sedan, which runs and drives just fine but needs a lot of little things, or buy this and redo it which would most likely mean the parting out of the sedan as a donor.
It's my understanding that the 300TD is worth more as a finished car than the 300D, mainly due to its original production numbers and the scarcity of existing examples left. So I guess it would be the way to go...
If I pass on it, I'll share all the information on it so someone else here has the chance at it.
