My 3-month old Toshiba HDTV also has both connections. When my house was being built, I had S-video and RGB component cabling routed throughout the media room, but the home theater experts I consulted say go the RGB route.
My X-Box and GameCube have accessory cables that support component video, but not S-video.
And yeah, coax is the lowest performer in terms of picture quality.
Though each RGB connector is RCA, the actual cable runs in my setup is coax, due to its superior shielding and low loss properties.
I have long wiring lengths among the different locations of each set of equipment, from the TV, the console near the couch where the ancillary gear resides, and the A/V rack. The subwoofer is also located away from the rest of the gear, and it too, has a coax feed...
