If the steering wheel is not level:
Note:
Wheels straight, full vehicle weight on the tires.
#1. Remove the flex joint pinch bolt (at the gearbox).
#2. Insert a screwdriver in the pinch slot, and carefully drive it in to spread.
#3. (engine off), Grab the steering wheel and force it to center ignore the ratcheting feel/noise = slipping across the splines.
#4. If the screwdriver slips out to soon = you may need to repeat.
#5. Remove the screwdriver.
#6. Install and tighten the flex joint pinch bolt (at the gearbox).
#7. Test drive.

Thanks! Did the r and r today and all went smooth after I found the mark on the end of the shaft and on the pitman arm. Seems like all other steering boxes I have done in the past had a flat to index the arm, but it's been a while. I don't know why I put it off for so long- it was a fairly simple deal and only took 1.5 hours in my dirt driveway with handtools.
