hmmmm, so thats why i have an unending urge to browse craigslist and look at 240Ds.... ! i'm sure my lady wouldnt mind a parts car on the lawn.....
looks like my throttle bushing pivot mount is pretty toast, I didnt pull it off to see the backside, but the black rubber part bends quite a bit when someone steps in the pedal - it sorta bends a bit then engages moving the linkage.. how do I know if i am getting "full throttle" ? i see a bolt on the side of the IP that seems to limit the amount of travel the linkage has-- and when the pedal is put all the way down to the floor, the linkage does hit that bolt - does that mean i am getting full throttle? does that bolt ever need adjustment?
The '77 240D i just picked up has a lot more 'pep' when the gas pedal is pushed than this '81 does.... it just really eases into things even when pedal to the floor. just trying to figure out why, or what to check (it's my girlfriend's car... so its probably a good anti-speeding ticket measure for it to accelerate real slow anyways.....BUT!)
