Steve, Textar brake pad material compares to the genuine MB brake pads ... black and softer than ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads. The softer material grips better and performs even if the power assist is lost for some reason. The semi-metallic brake pads increase rotor wear rate and, being harder, require more brake pedal pressure.
Many folks switch to ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads to reduce the accumulation of brake dust on their front wheels. I tried Portrfield pads years ago, but braking efficiency suffered and I switched back quickly to Textar pads.
