Time doesn't seem to be very valuable to someone spending at least 4 days out of a week driving a car to and from New York state every week or so from Colorado. It doesn't seem to make much sense looking at time lost, especially when adding in vehicle maintenance, fuel costs, (4) days of restaurant meals and lodging. Time IS money - but some don't look at their time as being a valuable commodity. It may be more like a hobby of sorts, and if that's the case, then time means nothing. But there's no escaping the negative expense of that particular kind of travel, versus air travel.
As a self-employed person, my first consideration is time. Everything else comes after that. I've learned a thing or two on the road in 37 years. And time is at the top of the list.
