thanks people. i will try vacuum at the brown line.

possibly another question... i don't think it's vacuum, i'm thinking temperature switch... there is a post sticking out behind the thermostat housing. there is nothing there. is that possibly something that should be connected to the electric fan? the temp switch on the dash works, so this is all i can think of. if no reply, i will ask to the whole forum
