Well the color of the interior they will give a name to, sure. They typically are going to use the seat color, but then they try to use different colors on different areas such as the carpet, door panels, dash, etc. That notwithstanding, occasionally a bit has to be ordered for one of these different colored pieces. When doing that, it can be difficult to get the correct color. You can give the parts guy the VIN and show him the part, he can see the trim color code and see, like in this case, that it has a Parchment interior. Often times EPC can help select the right color part (the coordinating color, not parchment), other times you get a list of weird-sounding color names and have to take a WAG at it, I've had to do this many times. So, if you were to look up a dash panel for this car, unless the EPC tells you which color code to order, I am sticking with my guess that this specific dash color is called Mushroom, just from past experience. Sometimes they make it relatively easy, some times the list will be more like "Grey, Dark Grey, Black, Silver". THOSE guesses are always fun to make! The problem is in the US market there may be only 2 to 4 colors available but for whatever reason there are way more colors to choose from due to other colors being available in other countries.

As far as naming the colors, the colors I am talking about aren't the trim color names that sales uses, it's names for all these other colors that are used other than the main trim color, the name the sales guys use. These other colors, I would say someone in the parts division have to think up some appropriate name for all these colors and they do a pretty good job.

atikovi, I would say saddle tan would be another possibility for the color name, there were lots of names, mushroom sticks in my mind for the name of that color, but Mushroom could have been from a different year/model and would definitely be a different color, if the color was identical they would definitely use the same name.
