Well at least they do not cost too much. And you might be able to sell the extras to someone else who also has the same problem.
One way of telling how far down to push the Valve Stem Seals is to measure the distance from the bottom of the Seal to the Cylinder Head.
Hand pressure and the Brass Fitting below are what I used to press mine on.

yep, I have moved on to that phase - green for me equals intake, the metal clad are for exhaust -makes sense if you think about it. I purchase a small bushing and used the bushing, two washers and nut to press on exhaust seal, intake much easier to feel - go me!
