I run 5k on my truck (2002 s10 chevy ) and the Benzs and my Pontiac (radical 455 / Holley carb) maybe 1K between changes- it dillutes oil that bad when it's parked and the bowls empty.

Due to modern engine /fuel management oil also lives a lot longer in newer cars.

The truck gets whatever brand name 10/30 on sale- usually Mobil 5000 if available, and the cars all run Rotella.

You should be fine even at 7K on synthetic I would imagine if the engine is reasonably sound. Watch your consumption or spring for a blackstone test at 5K and whatever they say.
