Another form of imprisonment that has been underway is the devaluation of the dollar. If you have accumulated any wealth in the United States it is becoming increasingly less transportable to other parts of the world. Therefore you are by definition faced with a standard of living drop should you decide that you would prefer to live elsewhere.
