Different rules for different times. Back then, the UC Office, apparently, wanted you to PROVE you were looking for work and it made their jobs easier for you the provide them ALL the contact information so they could see if you really were looking or just plain faking it.

I suppose back then, their budgets for dispersing UC Checks directly corrolated with what they had in the UC-Fund. Therefore, more people unemployed, the lesser the % of the the weekly check you got. Also, if you weren't looking, they could justifiy NOT giving you a check if you weren't following the rules. It sorta' flew in the face of logic from the first day you went in there to collect. You had to first prove you weren't fired from your job for being a dick, or that you quit on principles alone. You had to have been fired and it had to be proven that it wasn't for cause. THEN, you could go out and look for another job and qualify for UC.
