Most of the poor are so because they do stupid things to keep themselves poor. There really aren't as many poor people as there are stupid behaving people. If stupid behaving people would start doing things that wealthy people did, they would no longer be poor or stupid.
Stupid is a state of mind and behavior, just as wealthy is. The only difference is the size of the pocketbook. Wealthy people tend do things that make them wealthier, just as stupid behaving people do things that make them poorer.
About lottery tickets? The sales of lottery tickets are predominantly made in zip codes that low earning people live in. Whether they're stupid is debatable. What isn't debatable is that in those zip codes, 12% of their income is spent on lottery tickets. Everybody has to invest in something...
