It just goes to show how efficient companies are these day and how well they control their inventory level. It takes me a full business week (sometimes plus a day or two) to get ground shipments from California. Shipping time isn't a concern anymore when it comes to moving operations out of the country.

I think I can provide some more inside about shipping. For years before my semi retirement I was working for a HUGE Pharmaceutical company. I was involved in with running clinical trials for new drugs development. Without going into any details let me just share that blood samples need to arrive in designated laboratory that hold a FDA approval within 24 hours after the sample is taken from the patient. It doesn't sound a lot till you realized that for Europe, Middle East and Asia the only such a laboratory is located in Bathgate (just outside Edinburgh/Scotland) Some of the clinical sites were in Vladivostok

. This is 9 hours ahead of UK

It was such a important business for DHL that they've set up an office with 6 people working from our facility. For 11 years on the job, there was only 1 time they did not deliver on time. Astonishing....

This guys never fail to impress me with the logistics involved to move any cargo around the globe.
