Actually without realizing it you might have come up with something.
If a person is willing to re-route the Crankcase Breather Hose so it does not go through the Air Filter Housing Lid you no longer really need the Lid.
A hole large enough for the Central Bolt to go through could be drilled in the Plastic Cone. So the Bolt would go through the hole in the cone and you would need some sort of seal around the hole; like a rubber Grommet.
The thing that you would have to be careful of is to not over tighten the central Bolt or you could end up cracking the cone.
