I'd remove the EGR entirely, I did it for my 300SD and it made a pretty nice difference, it can help eliminate vacuum leaks too. I'll take a pic later today if I remember. I would avoid the "just put a BB in the line" idea unless your state has hellish emissions requirements. You will need a coin shaped gasket and blocking device. I just used one of the collars off the crinkled aluminium tube from the EGR system and a 5 Kroner coin (sweedish.) Odds are if you have a coin jar with some foriegn currency in it you'll find something that will fit.
