I have a DCS 48" cooktop and would not recommend it. It's flaky and doesn't want to light. A boil over will cause an ignitor to not work until it's dried and clean enough for surgery.
In my uncles new house he will spend about $40k on appliances. Nothing will be Viking. My friend has a custom Viking fridge built into his kitchen,($10k) its always being worked on. He is like I should have just bought an LG.

IMHO its a name brand thing, people like the name.
