Many years ago, I rebuilt the engine in a 144, a 1968 I believe, that had been overheated with the result that one cylinder burned oil. A new piston cured that. As Tom W. said, the engine is pretty well built. What I noticed about the car was its mediocrity- it wasn't very powerful on one hand, and was not that economical on the other. Parts were expensive, also.
