I had Progressive Insurance a few years ago. When my 190-E was hit while I was in a gym working out, they were very helpful in processing my claim to have the body work done.... until I decided I wanted the work done at a quality shop rather than a body shop on Progressive's list of approved (cheap) shops. It took them three weeks to "approve" my chosen shop before the work could begin. Luckily I had another Benz in my arsenal to drive in the meantime. Now I'm with Geico and they're much less expensive.

Regarding your accident, I do know that in the Commonwealth of VA, if the accident doesn't appear to have damage over a certain amount (I think $2,000), there is no police report done. You're on your own.
