They no longer want the the max line when hot to be used . The middle [ between the high/low marks] when at operating temp is now considered ideal.

Also calls for a couple of min. wait before checking to allow all oil to return to pan to get an accurate reading [ which one always should do anyway..]
I think they were just getting too much oil and the pressure on these 104s is pretty high to begin with... maybe that's why they leak alot..
As I said , my seal does not leak since I corrected level as suggested..
