They are nice little toys. I'm typing this on mine (64GB with 3G); they don't really replace a computer, but they are great for reading books, watching netfix, web surfing, e-mail, meetings, games, etc. You don't really need the 3G version unless you are traveling.

I'm sure there will be a new version this year, but there will always be another version. I doubt the price will go down much, they are already fairly cheap. Usually they keep prices the same and add features.
