I have a tool called a "twitcher". it allows me to use stainless wire to clamp hoses on to the barb ends that were originally crimped. you end up with about 10 or 20 turns of the wire around the hose & the ends are just rolled over so the dont break like twisted wire. Its the sort of simple tool that any one with a lathe & a bit of ability could make.
