I laughed.

To me the point is that today's diesels are high performance, not like older diesels which are (more) noisy, (more) smokey and (truly) relatively slow.

If I had that kind of money to spend on a new car I would definately give the BMW a look.

I drove a jetta diesel wagon the other day.
