Wow, great replies and advice. This forum rules!
I don't want it to smoke for the sake of smoke, I just want to know that I am able to fuel at the max for the available air. Right now with no smoke I don't know if I'm 1% excess air or 30%.
Josha37 I'll look into the rack limiter delete function (thanks whunter for all the great links. I searched quite a bit and there are some in there that I saw and others I didn't) and might try it when I get some time.
For those that are probably wondering and in the interest of full disclosure the valve adjustment is recent and accurate, the air and fuel filters are clean, the injectors are Monarks by Sean Watts (in the last year) and I stretched the IP relief spring to 27mm. I have not touched the IP timing or checked cam chain stretch.
I am getting 26-27 mpg in quite cold weather (highway 65-75 mph), 0-60 is 24s (if I hold it in 3rd to 60) and the absolute top speed is 84 mph (level ground-3.07:1 final drive ratio).
