W123 Turn signal issue

I feel like there used to be a more specific sub-category for W123 vehicles, but things might have changed around here, so anyway...

Selling my old 300D to a friend. Took apart the center console to try to get some lights working behind the HVAC switches, etc. Pulled some fuses as well. Then it sat for a month. Came back, put things back together, and now the turn signal doesn't respond at all. It always worked fine before.

I checked all the fuses for continuity with a multi-meter, and checked them after they were installed - all work

I took a look at the relay under the ashtray, it was plugged in. It would be odd for it to fail, since everything worked before other things were taken apart.

There are a couple of plugs that we cannot seem to find homes for, so I don't know if they are related?

The first is a pair, one has a black head, the other a white head. Both have a flat metal tab and a single metal prong, shown in the first pic below.

The other, which I thought went to the cigarette lighter, though I can't find where it plugs in, is a white plastic plug shown in the second pic.

If anyone has any pictorials of how to trace the turn signal issue, it would be much appreciated!
