Yes, the box is quite large. However, it is a bandpass enclosure, and a small one at that. It's actually a pretty unorthodox design that SAVED space. The ported chamber is a wide, shallow rectangle that is flush with the back wall of the trunk, and the sealed chamber housing the (believe it or not) single 12 is only about half the width and on the right side (this is why the amp is flush mounted towards the left). Without the amp, the box is an 'L' shape. Overall dimensions are 28" wide x 13" deep.

The system itself is more SQ oriented than SPL, and the sound is very clean, especially the midbass. The only problem right now is that the first aid kit lid rattles like crazy when I crank it (the port is located underneath it. I may just have to remove the lid altogether. I still have to bring the car in for final tweaks (after speaker burn-in) and time correction.

Guido - I like your install, we should definitely compare sometime. I thought about mounting a 12 in the rear deck, but I was wary of cutting that much.
