You can change the glow plugs without taking the intake off -- get a swivel socket (must have the six point socket as part of the swivel) of the appropriate size and a long extension. You may need a 1/4" drive setup to get it in there, but the glowplugs shouldn't be that tight.

Make sure to use antisieze on the new plugs!
