I removed the switches, ran each one under warm water. Then I shook them to remove most of the water, fairly gently blew them out with compressed air, they worked GREAT after that with all of their original lube still in place.
same for me.
on my 87 wagon, my wife CONSTANTLY sets down her large McDee Sweet Tea in the center tray... then steps on the brakes... and of course a quart of sweet tea dumped into the center buttons, shifter, and footwell does wonders for all manner of oddities in the car...
that huge mirror adjust switch just funnels the goop inside. couldn't adjust the mirror to save my life.
open it up, rinse it off, poof good as new.






...


oh, and I bolted in a cup holder in the center tray now...
