The OE bushings werent so badly pressed down that they looked about the same as the new ones. THe rubber was a bit harder, but the height was about normal. There is a certain level that the shaft should be tightened to. I just showed a few threads. I have to wonder if what you speak of is due to overtightening.
Or else shocks in severe need of replacement. Ive not seen such an issue on any of my w123 cars... Good tip though if folks have issues...
